MATA Orlando and CFICA Host Grand 80th India Independence Day Celebration
OVIEDO, FL: MATA Orlando Chapter partnered with the Central Florida Indian Cultural Association (CFICA) to celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day at Hagerty High School, drawing more than 1,500 attendees. The celebration featured distinguished guests, cultural performances, music, and community activities that highlighted India’s heritage and diversity. MATA Regional Vice Presidents Sookthi Singam and Rajashekar Kadari welcomed and hosted the special guests. Among them was Sri Addanki Dayakar Garu, Member of the Telangana Legislative Council and Government Whip. Hollywood actor, writer and producer Vishy Ayyar, popularly known as the “Indian Rocky,” also attended while promoting his latest film, American Warrior. Miss Florida Mahima Raj and Tony Jannu, MATA National Coordinator, were also among the distinguished guests. Hundreds of families, performers, volunteers and community leaders joined the festivities, making the event a vibrant celebration of Indian heritage. MATA leaders thanked CFICA and its leadership, including Kal Patel and Rekha, for bringing community organizations together to celebrate. They also expressed appreciation to MATA Orlando volunteers, performers, community partners and families for their support. The collaboration reflected MATA’s guiding principles of Seva • Samskruthi • Samanthwam — Service • Culture • Equality, while strengthening unity and community engagement among Indian Americans.
