Hindu Temple of Atlanta Celebrates 50th SAI Health Fair – 25 Years of Compassion, Healthcare, and Community Service

Over 800 community members participated in two days of healthcare services as HTA honored Dr. Sujatha Reddy's 25-year legacy of selfless service.

ATLANTA, GA – October 20, 2026

The Hindu Temple of Atlanta (HTA) proudly celebrated a historic milestone by completing its 50th SAI Health Fair, held on October 4 and October 18, 2026. Marking 25 years of dedicated community healthcare service, this remarkable initiative brought together physicians, healthcare professionals, volunteers, sponsors, and families in a shared mission of compassion, wellness, and service to humanity.

With more than 800 participants across both days, the milestone celebration reflected the growing impact of one of HTA's most meaningful community outreach initiatives.

Guided by the timeless principle "Love All, Serve All," the SAI Health Fair continues to demonstrate how compassion and collective action can make preventive healthcare more accessible to the broader community.

Two Days of Healthcare and Community Service

On the first day, October 4, more than 500 participants attended and received a range of preventive healthcare services, including 316 blood tests, 60 EKG screenings, 55 bone density screenings, and 70 flu vaccinations.

Additional services included health education, vision-related programs, homeopathy, and other wellness activities.

On the second day, October 18, more than 300 visitors attended, and the fair focused on free medical consultations with physicians representing 19 medical specialties. Participants could review medical reports, discuss health concerns, and receive professional guidance.

The Health Fair also provided 20 audiograms (hearing tests) to support early identification of potential hearing concerns.

On the second day, the team administered an additional 30 flu vaccinations, bringing the total to 100 flu shots across both days.

Together, these services emphasized early detection, preventive healthcare, and the importance of accessible medical guidance for individuals and families.

Honoring Dr. Sujatha Reddy – 25 Years of Extraordinary Leadership

A highlight of the milestone celebration was the presentation of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Sujatha Reddy, recognizing her 25 years of visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and selfless service to community healthcare.

For a quarter of a century, Dr. Reddy has played a central role in organizing and sustaining the SAI Health Fair, bringing together physicians, healthcare organizations, sponsors, and volunteers to serve the community.

Her leadership has helped transform the initiative into an enduring tradition of compassion and preventive healthcare, touching countless lives and inspiring others to embrace the spirit of volunteerism.

Special Recognition from GAPI and Sankara Nethralaya USA

The milestone celebration also honored Dr. Reddy's outstanding contributions.

GAPI (Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage) presented Dr. Reddy with a beautiful Tree of Life Award, expressing the organization's gratitude for her leadership and dedication to the 50th SAI Health Fair.

Sankara Nethralaya USA also presented a special commemorative plaque honoring her dedication to service and her commitment to improving lives through compassionate community outreach.

These recognitions reflected the medical and community service organizations' deep appreciation for her sustained commitment to preventive healthcare, compassionate leadership, and dedication to improving others' lives.

Together, these honors celebrated not merely an individual's accomplishments but a lasting legacy of service built through dedication, collaboration, and compassion.

Recognizing Kintu Shah for Excellence in Community Service

The Hindu Temple of Atlanta also proudly presented Kintu Shah with the Excellence in Community Service Award, representing Healthsoft Foundation and Doctors General Laboratory, Chicago, Illinois.

His generosity and commitment to affordable blood testing have helped make preventive healthcare accessible to community members.

The recognition highlighted the value of partnerships between community organizations and healthcare providers in improving public health.

Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The spirit of the SAI Health Fair reflects the enduring ideals of two influential leaders — Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Gandhi emphasized selfless service, compassion, and the dignity of every human being. At the same time, Dr. King envisioned a society grounded in justice, equality, and shared responsibility for others' well-being.

In Atlanta, a city deeply connected to Dr. King's life and legacy, these ideals carry particular significance.

The Indian tradition of Seva, or selfless service, aligns with Dr. King's vision of a compassionate, inclusive community.

For 25 years, the SAI Health Fair has brought these principles to life by uniting people across professions, cultures, faiths, and generations to serve those in need.

The initiative shows that compassion knows no boundaries, and service to humanity is a responsibility we all share.

A Community United in Gratitude

The success of the 50th SAI Health Fair was made possible through the generosity and dedication of numerous individuals and organizations.

The Hindu Temple of Atlanta sincerely thanks the physicians, nurses, medical technicians, laboratory partners, healthcare organizations, sponsors, and community partners who contributed their expertise, resources, and time.

The HTA Community Services team, trustees, coordinators, and dedicated volunteers deserve special appreciation for working tirelessly behind the scenes to organize both days and ensure a welcoming experience for every participant.

The temple also thanks the hundreds of community members and families whose participation and encouragement have helped sustain this important initiative for 25 years.

Celebrating a Legacy and Looking Toward the Future

Reflecting on this historic milestone, Ravi Kari, President of the Hindu Temple of Atlanta, shared:

"The completion of our 50th SAI Health Fair is a moment of immense pride and gratitude for the Hindu Temple of Atlanta. For 25 years, this initiative has demonstrated what a community can accomplish when compassion becomes action.

The SAI Health Fair is guided by the values of Selflessness, Awareness, Integrity, and the Embodiment of Truth, reflecting its mission of service to humanity.

As HTA celebrates this significant achievement, the temple remains committed to promoting preventive healthcare, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding opportunities for compassionate service.
