Sewa International Atlanta Holds 9/11 Commemoration at Veterans Memorial Walk
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Sewa International Atlanta hosted a 9/11 Commemoration and Remembrance Event at the Newtown Park Veterans Memorial Walk, bringing together community members, veterans, first responders, students and volunteers to honor those affected by the September 11 attacks and recognize the spirit of service. The program opened with a Color Guard presentation, the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, led by the Johns Creek Veterans Association (JCVA). Among those attending were Johns Creek Councilman Dilip Tunki, Dr. Sreeni Gangasani, members of the JCVA, firefighters and members of the Johns Creek Police Department. The keynote address was delivered by U.S. Army Captain (Ret.) Tommy Clack, who spoke about service, sacrifice and volunteerism. As part of the commemoration, Sewa International donated a bench to the Veterans Memorial and planted gardenia plants in the Veterans Garden as a lasting tribute to veterans. Sewa International's LEAD students also toured the Veterans Memorial Walk. The tour was led by Thomas, a JCVA member, who explained the history and significance of the memorial. The event concluded as a meaningful gathering that brought together people from across the community to remember September 11, honor veterans and first responders, and highlight the importance of service and volunteerism. Organizers thanked everyone who participated and contributed to the event, while also expressing hope that more volunteers will be able to participate in future programs.
