South Florida’s rich multicultural tapestry takes center stage as the Association of Indians in America (AIA) Florida Chapter hosts its annual India Independence Day Festival.

Taking place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., this free, family-friendly event invites residents and tourists alike from all over South Florida to experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of India at the iconic Broward Center for the Performing Arts located in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

A Multi-Sensory Showcase of Indian Culture
The festival offers a comprehensive immersion into Indian tradition, highlighting the country’s diverse regional cultures through live stage performances, traditional cuisine, and an artisan marketplace.

Live Cultural Showcase
The heart of the festival is the showcase hosted inside the Amaturo Theater, starting at 1:00 p.m.. Emceed by Saira Anwer of the Local 10 News Team, the program features traditional dance ensembles and musical acts representing different states and regions of India. Spectators can expect dynamic Classical, Folk, and Bollywood performances that tell the story of India’s independence and cultural evolution.

World famous Santoor artist,Padma Shri Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya Ji, will be performing a medley of Indian patriotic songs from 3 to 4pm.
Bazaars, Henna, and Kids Zone
Beyond the main stage, the venue transforms into an open bazaar:

Henna Artistry: Skilled henna (mehendi) artists will be on hand creating intricate temporary body art designs.

Regional Culinary Delights: Food vendors will showcase authentic dishes ranging from savory street food classics (chaat, samosas, and dosas) to rich regional curries and sweets.
